CHILDREN at the Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA) yesterday were feted in a prize and certificate presentation ceremony to mark the end of the centre’s 2014 programmes. It was held at KACA Centre in Kiulap.
Present to handover the prizes and certificates to programme participants as well as parents and volunteers who were actively involved in various KACA activities was Dato Paduka Haji Zainal bin Haji Momin, President of KACA cum guest of honour.
In his speech, Haji Awang Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, KACA Managing Director, expressed his appreciation and thanked all parties who have contributed or participated in the activities.
“Without the involvement of everyone, the programme would not have been successful. The ceremony today is to express our sincere thanks for all the efforts, ideas as well as hard work that have been put in,” Haji Awang Abdul Alim added.
“Aside from encouraging our children to be actively involved in every activity that the centre’s organised, it also aimed to inculcate the spirit of teamwork and cooperation among parents who have contributed in several fields for the benefit of their own children,” he added.
This year, KACA Centre has successfully carried out their programmes and activities including both indoor and outdoor activities like sports, educational visits and more.
For 2015 activities, KACA Centre has planned to conduct working visits, hold knowledge sharing sessions and take a closer look at several facilities available at numerous special needs centres in Thailand and Malaysia. The visit will be open for participation of the KACA management team, volunteers as well as parents of the children with special needs.
The centre has also planned to organise its annual National Sports Festival, Smiling competition with the theme ‘KACA Ku Sayang’ in conjunction with the World Children’s Day that will be celebrated on November 20, 2015.
Colouring and drawing contests are also open for participation for the children at the centre that will be organised both national and Asean level in conjunction with the World Special Needs Day celebration in December 2015.
