AS THE Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (PSR) exam ended last week, a group of 121 students from nine primary schools in Kampung Ayer yesterday joined Awang Semaun Secondary School (SMAS) for a two-day Bridging Programme.
The ‘Year 6 to Year 7 Bridging Programme’ is SMAS’s own initiative devised to give its prospective Year 7 students early exposure of the learning environment there and assist them in their transition from primary to secondary school.
Through this programme, students learn the important aspects and policies that every student at SMAS should know and abide by.
The school lined up several activities such as briefings by relevant sections in the school administration as well as hands-on activities designed by the counselors and heads of department.
There are nine primary schools in Kampung Ayer that are feeder schools for SMAS namely SR Pehin Dato Jamil, SR Sungai Siamas, SR Pintu Malim, SR Datu Ahmad, SR Bendahara Lama, SR Sungai Kebun, SR Haji Tarif, SR PAP Besar And SR Saba Darat. SMAS is expecting to register close to 200 new Year 7 students in 2015.
