PUTRAJAYA (Bernama) – The pressure to succeed may have led some people to leak two question papers of the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination.
Deputy chairman of the National Professors’ Council (NPC), Eminent Prof Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin said stiff competition in academic is another contributing factor.
“The strongest reason why some people take advantage of the examination by making money from it is because everybody want to succeed in academic,” he told a press conference after opening the roundtable discussion titled ‘National Security: Foreign Workers Issue and Challenges organised by the NPC and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) yesterday.
Shamsul Amri said leakage of question papers had disappointed the students, parents and teachers but it was not the first time as many parties were involved in preparing the questions, including the printers.
“Leakage of question papers is inevitable, especially in countries where competition in learning, social mobility via education, desire to become rich and join the middle class by becoming doctors and lawyers,” he added.
Following the leakage of UPSR question papers, the candidates have to resit for the Science and English papers on Sept 30.
