STUDENTS from Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School and Berakas Secondary School showcased their talents and creativity during an exhibition held at Nurkasih Building, Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, recently.
Awang Hj Abd Rahim bin Derus, Acting Director General, Ministry of Education, was the guest of honour at the event. Senior government officials, principals, homeroom teachers and representative of KFC Brunei Sdn Bhd, were also present.
Awang Hj Abd Rahim lauded the collaboration between Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School and KFC Brunei Sdn Bhd which gives students and teachers opportunity to pack condiments.
The Acting Director General said that more government and private institutions should collaborate to get engaged in the Pre-Vocational Programme to give students opportunities to work.
Students and homeroom teachers from Berakas Secondary School participated in a project by Department of Schools in collaboration with Special Education Unit for four months at Nurkasih Building since June 2014.
Nurkasih Building is one of the four Model Inclusive School (MIS for short) buildings built in four selected government secondary schools using Special Education Unit’s budget. MIS Building is part of an all-inclusive education system that provides for everyone, especially special needs students the chance to study with others.
For the project, a few interesting activities were collaboratively designed by teachers from both schools such as gardening, landscaping, batik painting, mixed media like Perspex, cooking pasta, making waffles and playing bocce.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, KFC Brunei Sdn Bhd participated in the project by offering students and teachers the opportunity to participate in short term experiences such as packaging condiments.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to teachers and representative of KFC Brunei Sdn Bhd.
