THE first generation of Honda Jazz launched in Japan has transformed the concept of the compact car into a huge triumph. It was the most favoured model around the globe and Jazz has sold over 4.9 million units and available in 123 countries. The third generation of this top notch model was launched recently at Honda Showroom in Gadong.
While preserving the design concept of the original model, the latest Jazz highlights a wholly reformed engine and physique which has extended to a new level of interior comfort, fuel economy, designing and driving performance.
Honda has further refined the centre tank layout – an innovative Honda packaging technology that helped make the original Jazz a revolutionary compact car. Maximising the benefits of this layout, the roomy interior and fuel economy of the latest Jazz greatly exceeds the expectations for the compact class.
The roofline, front pillars, rear combination lamps and underbody have been designed for enhanced airflow, reduced drag and overall superior aerodynamic performance. Whilst the new exterior styling adapts the Honda’s new exciting ‘H’ design that represents a dynamic evolution of traditional Jazz design elements.
As spacious and comfortable as ever, the sophisticated, futuristic cockpit takes refinement and ease of driving to the next level. The one-push start ignition switch, bluetooth hands-free telephone control, Siri voice recognition control, cruise control, audio control switches and 7-speed paddle shifts are built for the driver’s convenience. The front passenger area is open and roomy, and the rear seats are highly comfortable for long drives and provide multi-utility functions.
For fun and comfortable driving, the cockpit features an advanced interface such as the 7-inch touch screen display audio system and electrostatic climate control panel that is easy to use providing smartphone-like operation which gives the driver intuitive control and instant access to important information.
The newly designed 1.5-litre direct injection Earth Dream™ DOHC i-VTEC engine offers maximum output of 130 PS at 6,600 rpm that is about 10 per cent higher than the previous model. Coupled with the newly designed Earth Dream™ CVT, the result is powerful driving with a refined feel. The newly designed suspension system offers smooth, stable handling and comfortable ride with minimised vibration.
Featuring Honda’s advance proprietary G-force Control Technology (G-CON), the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure is a Honda exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. The Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Body is designed to lessen pedestrian injuries in the event of collision involving the front of the vehicle. These and other technologies contribute to the excellent passive safety of the all-new Jazz.
Designed to assist the driver in preventing accidents, the active safety technologies of the all-new Jazz include dual front SRS airbags front3-point ELR seatbelts with pretension and load limiter, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) which warns vehicles to the rear of a sudden stop.
The LED headlights, LED tail lights and LED high mount stop lamps normally equipped in high-priced cars are now a standard safety feature in the all-new Jazz.
