GEORGE TOWN (Bernama) – Police recovered five stolen luxury vehicles worth RM2 million after arresting a 36-year-old mechanic in Lebuh Farquhar here, on Friday.
North East District police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the mechanic, who was a holder of a diploma, was arrested after leaving an entertainment outlet at 5am.
“Subsequently, police went to his condominium in Jalan Harbour Place, Butterworth and found five stolen car keys and six road tax discs suspected to be fakes.”
He said the Porsche Cayman S, BMW 520i, Mercedes Benz E200, Mercedes Benz CLA and Toyota Land Cruiser were reported missing in Penang and Selangor this year.
Police believed the man, who had six housebreaking and vehicle theft records, was the mastermind of the car thefts and were investigating to determine if he worked alone or with a syndicate.
