THE Commander of the Tutong District Police, Superintendant Hj Chipli bin Hj Mohammad, held a meeting with Penghulus based in the Tutong District to discuss new neighbourhood watch areas. The meeting took place at the Tutong District Office.
The setting up of official neighbourhood watch is a strategy that would involve the community more and to assist police in monitoring criminal activities.
The motto associated with this neighbourhood watch initiative is “Joining Neighbours to Prevent Crime”.
During the meeting, police personnel updated the Penghulus with regard to current crimes and road accidents.
The Penghulus were also briefed by police on preventing crimes in areas that are believed to be criminal hotspots as well as plans to increase crime prevention through joint operations with other government agencies.
Following the briefing, police personnel participated in a question and answer session with the Penghulus who brought up issues pertaining to security.
