IN AN effort to improve the good relations between the government and local residents, the Information Department yesterday held its Information Dialogue Session Programme (PMP) for Mukim Kilanas at the Community Hall of Kampong Bengkurong.

Chaired by the Acting Director of Information Department, Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad, the session was attended by panellists comprising heads of departments and senior officials from various ministries and government departments. Also in attendance were the penghulus and village heads of Mukim Kilanas, as well as other invited guests.

In his remarks, Mawardi stated, “In line with the roles and responsibilities of the Information Department – which is to serve as the tongue, eyes and ears of the government – through the PMP, information on current issues and government policies can be explained and shared, apart from feedback requiring attention and action from the relevant government agencies.”

He said that the programme also acts as a platform and facilitator for Mukim Kilanas and village residents to express their views or address issues and problems faced, and at the same time, receive answers and explanations from the relevant government agencies.

During the session, he added, good relations between the mukim or village residents and the government could be further improved. It could also foster harmony and prosperity in the community, as well as preserved unity within it.

Mawardi expressed hope that the reviews and explanations provided by the relevant government agencies would be well accepted by the residents, and that this would help in resolving problems and issues raised by the residents.
