THE Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) celebrated Hari Raya Aidiladha with a Korban meat distribution ceremony held at the multi-purpose hall of the Brunei’s Supreme Court and Syariah Court in the capital yesterday.
The guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the PMO.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming remark from Pengiran Haji Zainal bin Pg Seri Wijaya Pengiran Haji Ahmad, Director of Printing, Government Printing Department.
Pengiran Haji Zainal highlighted that lessons can be drawn from the event where planning is required including time management, money management as well as manpower management for the sake of Allah the Almighty. He also said that such sacrificial event can also purify the soul of individuals helping them in becoming more sincere in carrying out their duties and suppress selfishness and stinginess within themselves.
He also explained that the concept of sharing is learnt through the meat distribution. It contributes in understanding fair distribution. He said that the practice has lessons that can be applied in daily lives and not only during acts of worship.
The event continued with Korban meat distribution by the guest of honour to the recipients including the less fortunate as well as officers and staff of PMO. This year, a total of four cattle and eight goats were sacrificed.
Also present at the ceremony were Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Juned, Deputy Minister at the PMO; permanent secretaries, directors, officers and staff of PMO.
