SPECTACULARLY vibrant colours sprung to life as thousands of participants converged together to give it their all in Brunei Darussalam’s 31st National Day yesterday at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in beautifully choreographed performances.
The ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ (Generation with a Vision)-themed event saw a total of 25,000 participants from 125 different government agencies, private sector companies, secondary schools, higher education institutions, associations and more, patriotically waving the national flag as they marched past the Royal Dais.
Halfway through the march past was a special performance by the new intake of the National Service Programme (PKBN) youths with a ‘Vibrant Visionary Youth Movement’ performing a ‘Silent Drill’ for the first time, which was the highlight of their presentation that served as an example of discipline and
professionalism through the shaping of a domino effect, which was accompanied by a combination of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force Drumline Bands.
The performance also showed that this kind of generation is the coveted generation of excellence that can express thought patterns that are accurate and smart towards the Brunei Vision 2035.
The field was further filled by the national flag-bearer team as well as logo flag-bearers, followed by the core group that formed a ‘V’ shape on the field.
Enlivening the patriotic atmosphere that was abuzz on the field was the recitation of the National Day oath, led by Awang Haji Md Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk followed by the three cries of ‘Allahu Akhbar’ that was led by ASP Wan Firdaus bin Haji Md Aminuddin.
The main highlight of the ceremony then quickly began with the emcee detailing the start of the field performance done by a total of 7,900 youths who represented various secondary schools, colleges and higher education institutions with the ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ performance.
Bringing the concept of youths as the hope of the country to shoulder the responsibility of the sovereign and independent nation, the performance also showed that youth represent shining stars that need to be polished so that religion, nation and country will stand firm forever.
Eight formations took place in the ‘Generation with a Vision’ performance that comprised the merging of gems, the crescent moon, the ‘tasbih’ beads, and the number 31 that brings the meaning of prosperity and future success lies in the visionary generation.
