PROJEK Ikan Pusu’s (PIP) Mohd Noorsherzaman bin Haji Hasan Ahmad shot to the top of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Under-16 Youth League goal scoring table after scoring all five goals in their 5-0 win over Besa FC yesterday.
It was the first time this season any player has scored so many goals, and puts him up to 15 in the list of top scorers – with Tabuan A’s Md Aminuddin bin Haji Masri second with eight goals.
According to a press release, the win at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex ‘A’ field also helped PIP overtake NFABD Under-16 Elite Youth Cup champions Tabuan A in the 10-team standings, although the national Under-15 team may regain their spot at the summit when they face Hawa FT at the Berakas Sports Complex.
Mohd Noorsherzaman, 15, took just one minute to give PIP the lead in the match at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex ‘A’ field and made it 2-0 in the 17th minute.
The Year 9 at Masin Secondary School student grabbed his hat-trick in the 38th minute and two quick goals in the 55th and 58th minutes to seal the emphatic win.
“I never thought I would be able to score five goals today and I want to thank my teammates for that as we played well as a team today,” he said.
“I also want to thank my parents and my coaches – especially PIP head coach Haji Omar bin Haji Jamil – for all the support they have given me.
“I am hoping to win the top scorer and best player award in this league, and I think I will have to score 26 or 27 goals to win the top scorer award,” he added.
