LOCAL company PHMD Publishing held a prize presentation for a drawing and colouring competition for children yesterday at the iCentre.
The contest, dubbed “Let’s Colour Brunei 2014”, involved around 300 participants from 40 schools around all four districts in the country, and was divided into multiple categories.
The participation part of the competition took place last month, culminating in yesterday’s prize presentation ceremony, which saw the attendance of Jeremy Chua, Manager of iCentre, as the guest of honour.
To begin the proceedings, the founder of PHMD Publishing Company, Pg Khairi bin Pg Haji Metussin delivered opening remarks in which he highlighted that through competitions such as this, the company hoped to help develop Brunei’s creative industry by focusing on young people.
Prizes in the form of educational games and stationery were then given to the top three in each of the competition’s categories, along with consolation winners.
For the drawing contest part of the competition, the lower primary category was won by Nurul Hiqmah binti Hj Halim Shah, Year 3 student from Amar Pahlawan Primary School, while Jasmine Ngo Hui Yen, Year 5 student from Kapok Primary School took first place in the upper primary category.
Meanwhile, in the colouring contest, Nur Dina Adilah binti Hj Abdul Zamri from Chung Hwa Middle School won the kindergarten category, while Year 3 student Siti Nur Izzah binti Abdul Azim from Kapok Primary School won the lower primary category.
The upper primary school category was won by Noor Muhd Asa bin Salim, Year 5 student from Dato Marsal Primary School.
