THE Muara Santai Carnival 2014 was further enlivened yesterday with a Cultural Night at the carnival’s venue at Muara Beach. Hundreds turned up at the event, which was organised by the Kg Masjid Lama Village Consultative Council, Muara Town, Sabun and Pelumpong with the collaboration from the Brunei-Muara District Office.
The evening saw a participation of 16 cultural performers competing in the Pop Traditional singing competition – all of whom were representing their own districts.
The Brunei-Muara District performers demonstrated their “Mukun” skills at its roots wooing their audience with the traditional touch of music and lyrics. The Belait District came into the competition bringing in their Silat and Tarian talents to the stage.
Meanwhile, the participants of the Tutong and Temburong Districts displayed their talents through traditional singing and dancing, bringing some culture onto the stage.
Aside from the competition, the Cultural Night also fitted into its schedule a stand-up comedy session featuring local Bruneian artistes fuelling the joy into the likes of the audience.
Present at the Pesta Santai Muara 2014’s Cultural Night was Awang Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, Brunei-Muara Acting District Officer, who later presented the prizes.
The Pesta Santai Muara 2014 will conclude today.
