PEMODA will be organising the 3rd Merdeka Tour Ride (MTR) on November 29 and 30. The ride will be the first of its kind, where PEMODA members will be riding their bikes for 30 hours non-stop throughout the nation.
Pemoda President Pg Hj Redzuan bin Pg Hj Ahmad, during a briefing held at the Royal Brunei Golf & Country Club, said that this is the 3rd MTR in Brunei Darussalam that PEMODA is organising but the first 30-hour attempt ever made.
The 3rd MTR is being organised in conjunction with the 30 years of Brunei Darussalam’s Independence. Pg Hj Ridzuan said that as bikers they have opted for a different way to make a patriotic contribution for celebrating the nation’s Independence Day.
The president said they will be riding for 30 hours non-stop, and an hour represents a year or independence.
The ride also aims to promote safe and proper riding in a group or convoy and promote Brunei Darussalam as a ride destination for bikers in the region.
The event is only open to Pemoda members and will be kicked off at the Dermaga Diraja in the capital. There will also be a flag off for the ride in Temburong District at the same time.
There will be checkpoints and stops along the ride, but the stops will be for refuelling and for prayers only, other than that the ride will be non-stop until the duration of the 30 hours is up.
Participants will be divided into six groups and each group will ride for five hours each. Motorcycles above 250cc will be used for this event.
The event also aims to promote the spirit of teamwork among riders and acquaint them with the mental and physical challenges of long-duration rides.
