TO LESSEN the burden of orphans as the new school term nears, some 126 orphans registered under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) received welfare donations and cash for schooling expenses in a charity event organised by the Welfare Body of Police Wives and Families (PEKERTI) yesterday.
Present to hand over the donations at the annual event held at the Police Headquarters in Gadong was guest of honour, Hjh Kamariah binti Hj Abdul Hamid, Chairwoman of PEKERTI’s Executive Committee.
According to a press release from the RBPF, PEKERTI’s orphans’ fund was established in 2007 and receives contributions from generous RBPF personnel, individuals as well as members of the public.
The funds are distributed to children of deceased police personnel in remembrance of their service and to minimise the financial burden of parents or guardians of the children as the new school term begins.
