PEHIN Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School awarded its 54 outstanding students who sat for Student Progress Examination (SPE) including Year 8 students where they will be expedited to Year 10 through the education express programme. The event was to appreciate their achievement, encourage and motivate them to strive for the better academically.
The school continues to support all programmes and activities instructed by the Ministry of Education to ensure quality education for its students.
Among the programmes included Numeracy Mentoring Programme for new teachers, Whole School Infrastructure Development (WSID) and Brunei Teacher Standard (BTS). This was highlighted by the Principal of the school, Hjh Monaliza binti Hj Abd Halim.
“The school has planned and implemented various efforts since last year to ensure that hopes and ambitions in enhancing the students’ results could be achieved,” she added.
In an effort to prepare its students, the school held the recitation of Surah Yaasiin every Thursday, other religious events, extra classes, intensive intervention programmes for Year 11 and Year 10 Express students and reading programme to encourage such habit among the students.
Meanwhile, the Academic Support Programme (ASP), introduced since 2011, has succeeded to boost the students’ confidence in public speaking.
Hjh Monaliza also urged teachers to be proactive to enhance their teaching and able to acquire the subjects with higher dedication, approachable and possess criteria to become a role model for the students.
