PBDB emerged victorious in their opening fixture of the Brunei Futsal League after comfortably seeing off Silveredz 5-3 in another eight-goal thriller at the Multi- Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex last night.
The Belait-based club got their noses in front in the 6th minute through Ak Abu Dzar and doubled the lead in the 10th minute through Md Yusran.
Md Amirul Hafizan pulled one back late in the first half for Silveredz, who were included as a late entry following the withdrawal of MS PDB from the league.
A brace from Muhammad Yusran bin Mazlan and another from Ak Abu Dzar made the points safe for PBDB.
Norizam bin Awang Hidup and Muhammad Amirul Hafizan also netted for Silveredz.
The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) for PBDB started in January 2011 following the approval of the establishment in 2010 by the Registrar of Society (ROS).
They organised a futsal league in 2012 in the Belait district. Last year, they joined His Majesty’s birthday tournament in Brunei Muara and the Belait district.
With their certified coach, PBDB has been active in fostering the development of the younger players and have initiated a target of two years for their labours to show its fruits.
They have two teams with some of PBDB’s senior players representing Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC).
The senior team did not join because of coaching requirements but the idea was to get the younger players the chance to flourish.
The Belait district achieved silver in the futsal event of the National Sports Festival (SKBD) last year.
PBDB develop and create activities for football and futsal in Belait. The youth team is one of the products that they produce in the hope of selection for the national team.
