FOUR groups of finalists competed in yesterday’s Hawker Style Cooking Contest & Dessert Preparation for the Household Affairs course, Skills Training Unit, Community Education Division (CED) held at CED’s building and parking zone.
The guest of honour was Dr Hj Mohd Zamri Hj Sabli, Acting Assistant Director, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), accompanied by Alce Nero’s Borneo Operations Manager, Stanley Wang; Malar Setia’s Marketing Executive, Andy Liaw; and Promotion Supervisor of Malar Setia, Levi C Isorena.
Hjh Erie Abdullah, Head of Community Education, in her capacity as the chairman of the event said in her welcoming remarks that the finalists represent all four Brunei districts and they would use their own recipes to present their cooking skills and dessert preparation, in addition to the basic products by Ayam Brand that they are required to use.
She revealed that around 600 participants have registered for the Household Affairs course nationwide and it would have been more if there were adequate classrooms.
The contest was intended to utilise the talents and creativity of the students in the preparation of desserts in the hawker style cooking contest as well as to foster a spirit of cooperation and camaraderie between the Continuing Education Division (BPL) officials.
In addition, the contest was also to highlight the use of Ayam Brand products, which are very nutritious, to add in more variety to the desserts.
The event ended with a prize presentation to the winners and participants.
