IN COMMEMORATING the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the Pakistan Islamic community in the sultanate yesterday celebrated Maulidur Rasul at the residence of the Pakistan High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam in Kampong Rimba.
The ceremony was hosted by Nayyara Malik, Ayesha Asim Mian and Fatima Malik, the spouse and daughters of the Pakistan High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony started with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran by Dr Sobia, followed by a welcoming remark by Nayyara Malik who conveyed her appreciation to invited guests which includes wives of to Pakistani doctors, teachers, businessmen, government officials as well as Pakistani residents in Brunei.
In an interview with Ayesha Asim Mian, who came to Brunei for the first time said that the main objective of the event was to remembrance the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
“This is my first time in Brunei and I lived in New York for about 24 years and Brunei is the total opposite of New York in how they celebrate Maulidur Rasul.
“It’s hard to describe how harmonious and peaceful I feel here,” she said.
The event was also enlivened with tausyeh performance known as Na’at Sharif, followed by the recitation of doa and concluded with a dinner.
Also in attendance during the event was Zubeeha Firoz, the spouse of Firoz Khan of Firoz Jaya Silkhouse Sdn Bhd, Shiba Salman Nabi, the spouse of a government official, guests from Iranian’s spouse and Oman’s spouse as well as other invited guests.
