MANILA (dpa) – Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao (photo above) on Thursday renewed his call for a fight with undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Junior (photo below).
“The ball will drop at midnight to usher in 2015. Floyd Mayweather, let’s not drop the ball on fighting each other next year! LetsMakeFistory,” the 36-year-old Pacquiao tweeted.
The eight-division champion also challenged Mayweather not to be a “boxing humbug” and to give the fans the fight they had been waiting for “long enough” in a tweet on December 16.
The 37-year-old Mayweather said on December 12 that he wanted the fight to happen on May 2 but had put up other conditions for the much-awaited bout.
Pacquiao won by unanimous decision in his last fight against Chris Algieri on November 23, in a 12-round bout that saw the US boxer hit the canvas six times.
