MEMBERS of the public flocked yesterday to the Rimba Horticulture Centre, Rimba, to purchase flowers and other related products on promotional sale.
The sale is an initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, and entrepreneurs of the centre, to enhance the production of ornamental plants.
The plants on sale included herbal fruits and ornamental plants, all being sold at affordable prices. Also available was Grade E local rice, “Laila” (Beras Pecah), which was broken but good in quality, costing B$6 per 10kg.
Customers were seen purchasing many bags of the local rice at the centre, which also had a garage sale and food and drinks stalls.
The promotional sale, which began yesterday, will be held till February 15 at the centre, from 8am to 5.30pm, expect on Friday when it will be closed from 12pm to 2pm.
Most of the local Chinese customers yesterday looked for ornamental plants for decorations for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration.
The department is encouraging greater participation from entrepreneurs selling ornamental and floral products at affordable prices to meet the local demand and to enhance public interest in decoration activities.
