A DELEGATION from the Sultanate of Oman led by Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Harasi, Chairman of the Public Authority of Radio and Television, Sultanate of Oman visited the Information Department, Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.
The Oman delegation also included the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed Al-Maskari and three other senior officials from that country.
The Acting Director of Information, Awg Mawardi bin Hj Mohammad and other senior officers welcomed the Oman delegation on their arrival.
The visit was part of the Oman Cultural Week, an event that highlighted the art, culture and heritage of Oman.
The visitors were then briefed on the roles and functions of the Information Department as the provider of news and information from the government as well as safeguarding the image of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the nation and the government.
The visitors included Abdullah Zahar Al-Adawi, Director of the Office of the Director General of Public Authority and Professor Dr Hussain Hamood Al-Abri of the University Sultan Qaboos.
The briefing was delivered by Awg Mawardi bin Hj Mohammad. He added that information and news are also obtained from ‘Pelita Brunei’ as well as ‘Pelita Online’, and other local publications.
The Information Department has also moved with the times, he explained, as the dissemination of information from its department can be obtained from social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The event concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Harasi by Awg Mawardi bin Hj Mohammad.
