THE KB-Seria Municipal Department recently initiated an Operasi Sergah 3/2015 in collaboration with the Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) and the Labour Department of the Belait District.
The operation, which saw 24 officers being deployed, aimed to ensure that the licence holders doing business at the Tamuneka at the Pasarneka Seria abide by the rules and regulations of the ‘Lesen Tamu’ one of them being prohibition of the employment of foreign workers as a salesperson or assistant.
Four foreigners, who worked as helpers at the Tamuneka and were given special passes along with another three, will be further investigated by the INRD’s Enforcement Division. Meanwhile, four foreigners have also been found violating the Labour Act.
The KB-Seria Municipal Depart-ment through their Enforcement Division gave a stern warning to licence holders against employing foreigners as sales assistants or helpers and if caught, their licence might be withdrawn by the Licensing Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Operations such as this will be executed from time to time not only at Tamu areas but also in other places including commercial buildings under the jurisdiction of the KB-Seria Municipal Department.
