THE Officer Cadet School (OCS) of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday held a Course Officiating Ceremony for the 13th intake of the OCS, following a Promotion Ceremony, which was held earlier, at the Gurkha Reserve Unit Officer’s Mess Hall.
The Course Officiating Ceremony was officiated by the guest of honour Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Deputy Minister of Defence.
Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa congratulated the 30 Officer Cadets on their achievement thus far and reminded them of the qualities required in the challenges ahead.
The 13th intake of the OCS consists of 18 male and 12 female Officer Cadets. Of these, 14 will join the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), eight will join the royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the remaining eight will join the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF).
This intake will be the first to undergo a newly extended course consisting of over 50 weeks of training, including the addition of a Range Conducting Officer Course which will qualify all new graduates of OCS to run static live firing ranges.
The new course will augment the Commissioning Course, which consists of fundamental military skills, leadership, academics and physical fitness.
Those who prove themselves worthy of making the stringent standards of OCS will receive His Majesty’s Commission at the prestigious Sovereign’s Parade at the new Defence Academy site in Meragang in October 2015.
