Nintendo is channelling the 90s with SNES Classic Edition

(dpa) – FANS of retro tech nostalgia, your dreams are about to come true: Nintendo is releasing a commemorative version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System of the 1990s, complete with 21 games that directly connect to a modern TV display.

The SNES Classic Edition is due out at the end of September, featuring classic games like “Final Fantasy III,” “Kirby Super Star,” “Street Fighter II Turbo” and “Super Mario Kart”.

The device comes hot on the heels of the NES Classic Edition, a similar tribute to the earlier Nintendo Entertainment System of the 1980s, released last year.

The NES Classic Edition was originally planned as a limited edition product for a short time period, but demand has been higher than expected, with the devices selling for absurdly high prices on the second-hand goods market.

Luckily, Nintendo has now announced that it will be bringing back the NES Classic Edition in 2018. According to the company, larger quantities of the classic console will be available next summer.
