THE Belait District Islamic Dakwah Centre yesterday conducted a certificate presentation ceremony for participants of the ‘Skim Bimbingan Asas Saudara-Saudara Baru Siri ke-181 (Lelaki) Bagi Tahun 1436H 2015M’.
Present as the guest of honour to present the certificates was Ustaz Haji Roslan bin Hj Ratu, a Religious Development Officer for the Belait District Islamic Dakwah Centre.
The course saw 18 participations comprising recently-converted individuals, who were guided through five courses – Iqra, Tauhid, Fiqh, Hafalan (Memorising) and Practical during the 14-day scheme.
Muhammad Ashraf bin Abdullah @ Liew Keng Nain Roger, one of the top three students who received the highest average percentage in the course, stated that the scheme was useful for guiding the new converts, especially for those who have never attended Islamic Religious classes before.
In terms of spiritual development, he added that one subject cannot be studied without the other as it has to be balanced.
“Tauhid is a subject which involves Iman (faith) and Islam, and understanding it will definitely help us spiritually. Meanwhile, Hafalan (memorising) and practical can help us with performing prayers properly, as praying is where we connect with Allah the Almighty. Iqra was also taught for us to be able to read the Al-Quran better.
“Thanks to the helpful teaching staffs of Islamic Dakwah Centre, they helped us to better our understanding of the religion,” he further added.
A recent statistic in the Belait District has shown that a total of 131 have embraced Islam in 2014.
