THE Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Temburong and Royal Customs and Excise Department detained a foreign driver and a local man at the Labu Control Post, Temburong and seized over 200 grammes of Syabu in what has been described by NCB as the biggest haul since it was established in Temburong in 2005.
NCB officials found packets with crystalline substance believed to be Syabu weighing 214.15 grammes and several modified equipment believed to be used to consume the controlled drugs. Also seized were several Brunei dollar notes and foreign currencies.
The suspects are being investigated under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, which is bringing in controlled drugs, under Section 6 (b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, which is consuming controlled drugs, and also under Section 7 of the similar chapter for possessing utensils for consuming controlled drugs.
Those found guilty of trafficking drugs exceeding 50 grammes face the mandatory death penalty.
NCB thanked the public for information and welcomed their cooperation in relaying information on suspicious activities on the misuse of drugs.
