THE National Road Safety Council Brunei Darussalam yesterday held a mass Sunnat Hajat prayer and recitation of Ratib Al-Attas and Doa Tahlil for road accident victims, at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque, Kg Manggis, Madang.
The guest of honour was the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, who is also the Adviser to the National Road Safety Council Brunei Darussalam.
The event began with a mass Sunnat Hajat prayer followed by the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas, Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil. It then concluded with a mass Asar prayer.
The event was held to pray together to Allah the Almighty so that people of Brunei Darussalam, especially road users, are always protected, and to raise public awareness on road safety.
This event has been held for the third time this year.
The event was organised by the Road Safety Unit, Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Communications.
The National Road Safety Council advised all road users to be cautious and responsible while on the road and to drive with care, discipline, thoughtfulness and comply with the laws and regulations of road traffic to avoid any unwanted events as well as to maintain safety.
Also present at the event were Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Yunos (Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications) and Dr Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi (Acting Director of Land Transport cum 2nd Deputy Chairperson of National Road Safety Council) as well as heads of department, deputy heads of department, senior officers at the Ministry of Communications and members of the National Road Safety Council.
