THE 4th National Primary Schools Sports Festival, held once every two years, was officially launched yesterday by guest of honour Pengiran Suhaimi Bin Pengiran Hj Bakar, Director of Co-curriculum Education.
Some 1,200 students nationwide representing their respective primary schools are competing with a total of 138 medals being contested.
The festival is open to both government and non-government schools.
The schools are divided into nine areas namely Brunei I, Brunei IIA, Brunei IIB, Brunei III, Brunei IV, Tutong I, Tutong II, Belait and Temburong.
As many as nine sporting events are being competed including chess, table tennis, mini marathon, futsal, badminton, netball, sepak takraw, football and athletics.
The event aims to produce physically and mentally healthy students and inspire parents to encourage their children to be active in sports.
Also present was Awang Rosdin bin Suhailee, Acting Assistant Director of Co-curriculum Education.
