BASED on the theme ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ (Generation with a Vision), some 7,900 children and youths will gather on the field of Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the heart of the capital on February 23 to put on an electrifying performance for the 31st Brunei Darussalam National Day celebration.
To perfect the performance, the first rehearsal at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien took place yesterday morning. On hand to oversee the practice was Haji Mohammad Abdoh bin Haji Awang Damit from Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
According to Haji Mohammad Abdoh, “This is our fourth rehearsal but the first to be held at the Taman because we have been rehearsing in the stadium previously.
“The performance is split into two segments and the first segment is performed by the new intake for the National Service Programme (PKBN), followed by a performance from students and youth from all four districts.
“This year’s performances are based on our youth and children. This is to let our youth understand that they play a pivotal role in achieving Vision 2035 of an educated and skilled nation.
“An estimated 23,000 people are expected to be involved in the parade for the National Day this year.”
The full dress rehearsals will be held on February 17, 18 and 21. Members of the public and road users are advised to be mindful during the rehearsals.
