THE first day of the four-day National Adult Musabaqah Al-Quran Quarter Finals was held yesterday by the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque, Kampong Manggis/Madang.
A total of 78 participants have made it to the quarter finals this year. They comprise 59 qaris and 19 qariahs.
A total of 39 participants were chosen from the Mosque Zone Level Adult Al-Quran Recitation Competition while 39 other participants are from the semifinals of the National Adult Musabaqah Al-Quran held last year.
Of the 78 participants, only participants who obtained a score of 80 per cent and above will be able to continue to the next stage which is the semifinals.
This competition is an annual project of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, it is also hoped that this musabaqah will gain exposure and encourage qari’s and qariah’s to increase the quality of their recitations as well as open the mind of the society to practice good and systematic methods of recitation.
The result announcement ceremony will for the musabaqah will be held on Thursday, 5 February 2015 at 2pm at the same venue.
Also present during yesterday’s musabaqah were male and female students of the Madang Religious School.
