KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – A single mother who abducted a wheel-chair bound woman at a hospital car park and then robbed the victim of her jewellery was recently sentenced to eight years imprisonment for the offences by the Sessions Court .
Judge Shamsudin Abdullah handed down the sentence on Aminah Sulaiman, 26, who is employed, after she changed her plea to guilty yesterday, which was fixed for the first day of her trial.
She was sentenced to five years’ jail for robbery and three years for abduction, to be served concurrently from the date of her arrest, which was September 11, 2017.
On the robbery charge, Aminah was charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery on a person with disability (OKU), Zaiton Beevi Mohamad Anwar, 62, who lost a pair of gold earrings, two gold bangles and a gold necklace in the incident.
The law provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to fine or whipping, upon conviction.
