FOUR-year-old Muhd Darwisyh Hamizan Juhar, a special needs boy who has breathing difficulties due to low levels of oxygen in his body, can breathe easy now, thanks to a group of senior citizens who sponsored a portable breathing equipment and an oxygen concentrator.
Muhd Darwisyh’s parents Juhar bin Hj Rahim and Hajah Fauziah binti Ibrahim yesterday expressed their gratitude to the generous donors.
Muhd Darwisyh, the eldest son in the family, started having breathing problems after he suffered a severe lung infection last month.
Hjh Fauzah said his face was very pale when he could not breathe properly.
“We were shocked and worried. When we rushed him to a hospital, he was put on an oxygen machine to help increase his body’s oxygen levels.
After three weeks in the hospital, his parents wanted to bring Muhd Darwisyh, who turns five next month, home. However, they did not have an oxygen concentrator at home.
Doctors at the hospital recommended that they purchase a portable one that costs over $2,000 or rent an oxygen cylinder, which is a costly and temporary option.
Hajah Fauziah decided to post a plea on Facebook and the response was overwhelming.
She said, “One day, a group of senior citizens came to our house to visit Darwisyh. They saw my son’s condition and agreed to sponsor the portable oxygen equipment and the oxygen concentrator.”
“I will never forget their kind deed. My family would like to convey our sincere gratitude and appreciation to them.”
