A TOTAL of 297 students, who have successfully passed their Primary School Assessment (PSR) in 2014 with excellent results, began their orientation as Year 7 students of the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) yesterday at the auditorium of the college.
The three-day orientation will be filled with various activities including talks, lectures and briefings which will be delivered by teachers as well as other relevant agencies and associations.
In her welcoming remark, the Acting Principal of MSPSBS, Dr Hajah Zurina binti Haji Harun urged parents and guardians to support their children in their studies and in their pursuit of excellence.
“It is important for parents and guardians to support and encourage their children in their studies. Parents and guardians play an important role and they should not just be relying on teachers or the school,” she added.
The acting principal also advised the new students to always aim for excellence.
The event continued with the reciting of the student oath followed by a briefing on the introduction of the Student Progress Examination (SPE) Year 7 delivered by Cikgu Zabaidah binti Tuah.
A Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) briefing was also delivered by Hajah Zaiton binti Haji Damit, Chairman of MSPSBS PIBG.
The orientation serves to expose the newly-enrolled students to the rules and regulations of the college and the importance of complying with and upholding them.
At the same time, it also provides a good opportunity for the students to get familiarised with their peers and teachers.
