UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday held the dissolution of the UBD Student Representative Council (MPP PMUBD) 2016/2017 session, which was followed by the appointment of the Supreme Council members for the 2017/2018 session.
The appointment took place at the Senate Room of UBD’s Chancellor Hall, where the selection of 18 students to lead the MPP for the 2017/2018 was witnessed by Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub, the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Corporate and Administration), Registrar and Secretary of UBD.
The Dean of Students, Saidai bin Haji Hitam, thanked the previous council members, while acknowledging their services, contributions and sacrifices towards the development of the MPP PMUBD.
The previous council members were then presented with tokens of appreciation by the assistant vice-chancellor, which was followed by the presentation of official appointment letters to the new members before the taking of the MPP PMUBD oath.
The oath-taking ceremony was followed by a speech from the MPP PMUBD President, Mohammad Ashmeer S/O Imtiaz Ahmad, a second-year Biomedical Science student from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, who has been elected to lead the council for the second year in a row.
The MPP PMUBD election campaign is held on an annual basis, during which successful nominees must undergo a four-day leadership course which includes an introduction to the functions of the MPP PMUBD, in addition to learning about leadership qualities and the administrative, financial and regulatory procedures at UBD.
