A MEMORANDUM of Understanding (MoU) between the Brunei Malay Teachers’ Association (PGGMB) and local contractor Menjulang Maju Contractor Sdn Bhd (MMC) for a joint $16-million upgrading project for the PGGMB Tunas Jaya School in Kg Madang was signed on Thursday.
Under the agreement, which was signed at an event held at the Rizqun International Hotel, MMC as the sole financier of the project will redevelop and upgrade the existing school into a five-storey modern school building that will include facilities such as a multi-purpose hall that can accommodate up to 1,000 people and a swimming pool.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of April this year and is slated to be completed within two years.
Signing the MoU on behalf of PGGMB was its President, Haji Antin bin Ahad, while MMC was represented by its Director, Ak Mohd Kama’arul Azaman bin Pg Mohd Zaini.
Witnessing the signing were MMC Managing Director, Pg Zaini bin Pg Hj Md Daud, and executive board members of PGGMB.
PGGMB Tunas Jaya School in Kg Madang was opened in 1993. With the new infrastructure, PGGMB hopes to expand its classroom capacities to comfortably accommodate the growing number of students in future.
