THE soft launching ceremony for the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (MoRA) new building was held yesterday.
The guest of honour at the event – held at the new building of MoRA, at Jalan Dewan Majlis, Berakas – was Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
Also in attendance were Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Haji Mohammad ‘Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Salam, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and officials of MoRA.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah followed by a Sunnat Hajat prayer and Doa Hajat which was led by Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Mosque Affairs Officer.
The ceremony then continued with the mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Ratib Al-Attas.
The new building is located next to the building of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Jalan Dewan Majlis.
The total expenditure amounted to $11,854,189 under the 9th/10th National Development Plan.
The new building is equipped with facilities such as halls, Surau, lecture room, meeting room, a library and an exhibition space that will serve as an information centre showcasing the plans of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The building will also accomodate the offices of the Department of Islamic Religious Council, Haj Affairs Department and Syiar Islam Development Unit.
