MASHHOR Offshore Painting Services (MOPS), a division of Mashhor Group of Companies, has achieved a milestone with eight years offshore operations without any lost time incident (LTI), while clocking five million man-hours until November 2014.
According to a press release, MOPS was awarded a contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) in the year 2007 based on capabilities acquired through transfer of technology from an international partner.
Now with its successful track record and capability, MOPS is looking forward to compete regionally with international players in the offshore business segment.
BSP acknowledged and appreciated MOPS’ achievement by handing over a plaque at a gathering organised at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) recently.
The plaque was given by Jim Buchan, Head of Production and Maintenance Excellence (OPM) at BSP, to Malai Hj Abdul Hamid Mashhor, Chairman of the Mashhor Group of Companies.
The plaque was handed over for achieving five million man-hours without LTI. In fact, it is considered an excellent achievement considering the complexity in the nature of offshore work.
It was also highlighted that MOPS achieved a record-breaking painting production last year touching 128,000 sqm, while maintaining highest standards.
Those who attended the function included Jim Buchan, Peter Massey, Ariffin Rashidi and other members of the BSP support team, along with key personnel from MOPS management team.
The chairman of Mashhor Group said that he is proud as a Bruneian to have achieved this feat, and feels prouder now as it is done on live platforms, which was once done as a shutdown scope by international companies.
He thanked the BSP team for their support and expressed his gratitude to all those employees, subcontractors and suppliers who worked together with MOPS to make this happen.
He requested continuous support from all of them in the fresh five-year contract term that starts this March 2015.
MOPS commenced operations in the year 2007 and steadily progressed in all aspects of the business, not only in terms of safety, but also in quality and productivity, registering an exceptional track record in local business development.
So far, the contract under MOPS has trained and effectively turned numerous fresh trainees into skilled scaffolders and blaster-painters.
During the term of the contract MOPS has closely worked with BSP to provide services and support for the asset integrity and will continue to explore new opportunities to improve the business.
