THE Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the departments under it yesterday celebrated the New Year 1436 Hijrah at the Legislative Council building.
The guest of honour was Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Home Affairs.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pengiran Haji Mohd Hafizuddin bin Pengiran Haji Bakar, Mosque Affairs Officer, followed with the reading of verses of the Al-Quran by Haji Mohd Yussof bin Haji Besar, winner of the National Surah Memorisation Competition in conjunction with the celebration of His Majesty’s 68th birthday for the male category.
The event continued with a special religious talk on the ‘Significance of Reading Doa at the End of Year and New Year of Hijrah’, which was delivered by Ustaz Haji Muskrisman Safari bin Haji Mustapha from Islamic Dakwah Centre.
The ceremony was one of the annual activities conducted by MoHA with the main objectives of enlivening Islamic events and strengthening ties among the officers and staff members of MoHA.
Also in attendance were Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, members of the Legislative Council, senior officials, heads of department, deputy heads of department, Penghulu Mukim and village heads as well as officers and staff members of MoHA.
