IN AN effort to motivate employees and staff members at the Ministry of Health (MoH) to provide the best possible service, the ministry yesterday held an Excellence Award Ceremony, which took place at its Al-Afiah Hall.
The guest of honour, who later presented the awards and certificates to recipients, was the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming remark from the Director of Policy and Planning, Hajah Zahrah binti Dato Paduka Haji Md Hashim, in her capacity as the co-chairperson of the event. According to her, the Medical and Health Services Evaluation Programme is one of the ministry’s initiatives to improve the quality of health care services in the country.
The ceremony then continued with the award presentation for the Medical Services category where bronze awards were presented to a therapist team from Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait and the Pharmacy Division of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong.
The silver award was presented to the National Dental Centre based at the Old Airport in Berakas.
In the Health Services category, bronze awards went to the Sungai Liang Health Centre, Jubli Perak Sengkurong Health Centre, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Health Centre and Pengkalan Batu Health Centre.
Meanwhile, the silver award was presented to Lamunin Health Centre, Telisai Health Centre, Jubli Emas Bunut Health Centre, Sungai kelugos Health Centre and Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah Health Centre.
For the Health Services under the Health Clinic category, the bronze recipients were Berakas B Health Clinic, Pengkalan Batu Health Clinic and Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah Health Clinic in Gadong. The silver awardees were Sungai Kelugos Health Clinic, Lamunin Health Clinic, Telisai Health Clinic and Jubli Emas Bunut Health Clinic.
The Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Health Clinic received the gold award.
The guest of honour then presented a certificate of appreciation to Haji Zainal Arrifin, a representative for the Medical and Health Services Evaluation Programme 2014.
The ceremony then continued with presentation of certificates for the Excellent Civil Service Award (APCA) to three teams.
The Sinar Cahaya Team of the Psychiatric Department of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital received a silver award for their project, ‘Establishment of Supervised Residence for Chronic Psychiatric Patients in Rehabilitation Programmes to Improve Patient Care of Acute Psychiatrics’.
The Kidney Transplant Team of the Management Division of the Renal Services Department with their project entitled ‘Kidney Transplant Programme in Brunei Darussalam’ and the Tukar Tia Team from the Technology and Heath Care Department with their project, ‘Bringing Good: Replacing and Upgrading Medical Appliances’ both received APCA consolation awards.
The minister then presented the Outstanding Employee Award of Civil Service to four individuals – Dayang Nor Azian binti haji Hafneh, Awang Haji Romaini bin Haji Zaini, Dayang Hajah Noorainah binti Abdullah @ Haji Abdul Rahman and Dayang Masnor binti Puasa.
Towards the end of the ceremony, an appreciation award was presented to the Head of Psychiatric Services, Dr Hilda Ho, who previously received the Public Educator of the Year 2014 Award in November. It was then followed with the certificate and souvenir presentation to 37 staff members.
