THE Brunei Council on Social Welfare or Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) will carry out a charity programme for two days with a group of well-wishers who have donated food and basic necessities for the needy. This is part of MKM’s project called ‘Sejambak Kasih’ and this time, MKM will be distributing food items to 100 needy families on February 14 and 15, a press release stated.
These families are registered clients of MKM. It has always been MKM’s practice to distribute foodstuff to them regularly as they require assistance in their daily necessities. For project ‘Sejambak Kasih’, other than using its funds, MKM has also received donations from members of the public.
When the group of well-wishers approached MKM with their intention to donate , MKM was more than happy to join hands with them. The spokesperson for the group of well-wishers, many of them expatriates residing in Brunei, informed MKM that this act of charity was their way of thanking His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the people of Brunei.
They will also be joining hands with MKM in distributing the goodies in the capital, Tutong and Kuala Belait.
MKM is a non-government organisation whose main objective is to address social issues in Brunei Darussalam and coordinate the various social welfare activities for the vulnerable groups in the country.
