FIFTY-NINE students of HNTEC Plant Engineering from Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering (MKJB) visited the Suasana Mentari Engineering Services Sdn Bhd (SMES) office at the Belait Industrial Complex, Kuala Belait.
Conducted as part of the Energy Industry Competency Framework (EICF) Programme initiated by the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit was an industry-based training programme.
Present to provide classroom sessions were Derrick Tang, SMES Technical Consultant, assisted by Mohd Aizzuddin, SMES Operation Manager. The sessions focused on the principles and application of valve automation in the oil and gas industry.
The students also had the opportunity to learn about the construction and safety aspects of valve automation. Its maintenance, inspections and pressure test procedures were also highlighted during the sessions.
The sessions concluded with a tour around the SMES workshop.
