THE Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering (MKJB) in collaboration with the Brunei Technical Education Institute (IPTB) yesterday kicked off a two-day ‘Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Graduate’s Open Day’ at the Kuala Belait Convention Centre. The event saw the participation of 21 companies.
The guest of honour was Awg Hj Rani bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof, the Acting Commissioner of Labour Department. Also attending the event were Habib Mohamad bin Haji Wan Junaidi, the Acting Principal of MKJB and Dr Chin Wei Keh, the Director of IPTB.
In his opening speech, Habib Mohamad said that the two-day ‘TVET Graduate’s Open Day’ is held to increase the number of graduates being offered employment and to pool as many companies from the industrial sector for the graduates to meet, not only for employment but also to understand what is required by these companies.
The acting principal also hoped that the event could be held annually to assist and provide an opportunity for graduates to find out what their future careers would be.
The event is open to the public from 8am to 4pm.
