WINNERS of the BC2 weight loss health programme organised for employees from the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) were announced yesterday at a prize presentation ceremony held at the ministry’s building.
The programme, which began in February this year was aimed to promote a healthy, active and productive workforce within the ministry on top of reducing the risk of obesity.
The BC2 divided 162 eligible participants into 18 teams, each with one motivator to encourage the participants to achieve their target weight. Only 20 finalists out of 126 participants were awarded with the prizes after they managed to impress judges with the most percentage weight loss since the start of the programme.
Out of the total winners, only the top three with the most weight-loss received the grand prize and the rest received consolation and novelty prizes. Among the criteria judged in the programme include Waist to Hip Ratio, Body Mass Index, Overweight to Normal, Group Weight-Loss and the most active teams and motivator.
On hand to present the prizes to the winners was the guest of honour, Datin Hjh Norlina bte Dato Haji Abu Bakar, representing her husband; Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
Datin Hjh Norlina bte Dato Haji Abu Bakar is also the chief judge and main sponsor for the ‘Body Challenge 2’.
Also present was Hajah Normah Suria Hayati binti Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri, the permanent secretary together with the deputy permanent secretaries, Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Ibrahim (Primary Resources Development) and Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abd Hamid (Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship).
The ceremony concluded with a warming-up Zumba session followed by employees conducting their weekly sports activities.
