VISITORS to the new Women and Children’s Block located beside the RIPAS Hospital were reminded yesterday to only do so during visiting hours to prevent the risk of infections and not to vandalise the centre’s facilities and equipment.
The call was made by Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof, after his working visit to the block.
The minister said: “Visitors must work together with the hospital to make sure that visitors do not contaminate patients and avoid patients from infecting visitors.”
The visiting hours for the Acute, Isolation, Intensive Care, Special Care and High Dependency Wards is 12pm to 1.30pm and 5pm to 8.30pm with a two visitor limit imposed at any one time, while the General Ward visiting hours are from 12pm to 1.30pm and 5pm to 9pm.
“The purpose of our hospital is to give the best treatment to our patients and we must educate the public to make sure that they follow and abide by the visiting hours,” the minister added.
The ministry is also seeking the cooperation of the public not to vandalise any of the facilities.
The minister added: “The public have to cooperate with us to maintain the cleanliness, comfort and convenience of the place.”
The paediatrics ward has been relocated to the new block, while obstetrics and gynaecology services began on January 9.
