THE launching of the ‘Youths Loving the Prophet Carnival’ in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration 1436H/2015M was held at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
The carnival was launched by the guest of honour, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The launching began with a Qasidah performance by the Youth Centre Qasidah Club Group and the Al-Mawlid Group, followed by a special talk titled “Youths Who Love the Prophet”, delivered by a speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ustaz Hisham bin Ismail. The ceremony was then concluded by a recitation of Doa Selamat and a tour of the exhibition by the guest of honour.
The carnival was organised by the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Jalinan Akrab Belia Terunggut Club (JABaT) and managed by Battle Pro Marketing and Management Services. The carnival will be held for five days from January 7-11.
The carnival is in line with the national vision to uphold His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah in making Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation.
It also intends to instil a sense of curiosity to get to know the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through scheduled activities that will be presented in a more interactive way.
Several side activities have been lined up such as a Maulud Dikir Ceremony, namely the “Loving Allah the Almighty and Rasulullah (pbuh) Night”, a speech competition between higher institutes of learning which will carry the theme “Loving the Prophet”, an exhibition called “Loving Rasullullah (pbuh)” featuring photos and Islamic calligraphy art, a forum titled “Rasullullah (pbuh) as a Motivator and Booster”, a Jawi reading contest, colouring contest, horse riding activity, food stalls and a youth bazaar which will be held to attract more visitors to the carnival.
Also present were Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abd Samad, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as senior officers of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Department of Youth and Sports.
