PEHIN Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Communications will be attending the 20th Asean Transport Ministers Meeting (20th ATM) and its related meetings with Dialogue Partners scheduled to held on November 27-28 in Mandalay, Myanmar, a press release stated.
The meeting will be preceded by the 38th Asean Senior Transport Officials Meeting (38th STOM) which is currently on-going and attended by Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.
The Asean Transport Ministers Meeting is an annual meeting where all Asean Transport Ministers will meet to discuss on the achievement on the transportation sector. The ATM Meeting will include meeting with dialogue partners China, Japan and Republic of Korea.
Amongst the agenda items that will be discussed are: adoption of the Asean transport cooperation vision for 2016-2025, signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Asean Cooperation Mechanism for Joint Oil Spill Preparedness and Response which will put in place a regional collaborative mechanism to build capacities and capabilities and promote mutual assistance in preparing for, controlling and combating oil spill incidents in Asean region and endorsing the Implementation Framework of the Asean Single Shipping Market (ASSM) which will provide strategic guidance to coordinate policy and harmonise rules and regulation to further liberalise shipping services in the region.
