THE Ministry of Communications signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) yesterday for the establishment of a working relationship as well as cooperation and collaboration in road safety and other transportation sectors.
The signing ceremony was held at Bilik Al-Mahabah, Ministry of Communications.
The signing was witnessed by the Minister of Communications and Advisor to the Brunei National Road Safety Council (BNRSC), Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
The signing marks the official commencement of two road safety projects namely the Development of Road Accident Data Enhancement and Development (RADED) and Average Speed Monitoring Systems (ASMOS) to be conducted by the Centre for Transport Research, ITB and funded by the Ministry of Communications under the NDP 2012-2017 budget.
Signing on behalf of the Ministry of Communications was the Acting Director of the Land Transport Department, Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi, and the Director of the Centre for Transport Research (CfTR), Dr Tan Soon Jiann, signed on behalf of ITB in the presence of the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Chairman of the BNRSC, Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof and the Acting Vice-Chancellor of ITB, Associate Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman.
Also present at the ceremony was the Chief Commissioner of Police and Deputy Chairman 1 of the BNRSC, DCP Dato Paduka Seri Awang Bahrin bin Mohd Noor, and the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos as well as other members of the BNRSC.
