THE National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) will mark a new milestone in the history of futsal with the establishment of the Brunei Futsal League 2015, which is set to kick off tomorrow (Feb 1).
The two venues that will be used for the league are the Indoor Stadium and the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex.
The 12 confirmed teams that will be competing in the Brunei Futsal League sat down for a managers’ meeting organised by the NFABD at the NFABD House yesterday.
The teams are MS ABDB, MS PDB, Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) FT, Belait District Football Association (PBDB), Syah Kampong, Arbisyam FC, Shah United FC, Kota Junior, Rizfiz FT, Pegastar FT, Mixed Star FT and Street United FT.
There is already a sizable pool of talent for this league having proven form on a consistent basis in tournaments and this suit NFABD’s objective to improve the standards of the national team competing in various regional and international competitions such as the Asean Football Federation (AFF), Asian Football Confederation and Federation International Football Association (FIFA) tournaments.
At least seven of the futsal teams have consistently featured in the later rounds of a tournament even before a ball has been kicked in the BFL.
The league also serves as a platform to build and develop futsal talents under the microscope of the NFABD to unearth potential players to represent the national team at the youth or senior level.
This is also an on-going long-term project by NFABD with plans to continue on a yearly basis.
Present at the team briefing were Pg Mohd Amirrizal bin Pg Mahmud as the Vice-Chairman of the Brunei Futsal League 2015 and Haji Hamidon bin Hj Mohd Zin as the Secretary of Brunei Futsal League 2015.
Teams that are scheduled to play should be in the venue 70 minutes prior to the game. With under an hour to go before kick-off, both sides are requested to sign forms.
Between 25 to 45 minutes prior to kick- off, both sides will take part in a warm- up before getting ready 9 minutes before kick- off. The players will make their way to the court 4 minutes before kick-off and then lastly kick-off when the required time expired.
Any misconduct or unethical behaviour from either an individual or team will be liable for punishments and action will be taken accordingly. The punishments will be accorded based on the publications prepared by NFABD.
In an event that a winner cannot be decided after certain rules have been factored in as a consequence of a tie, the technical committee will decide whatever is fit and appropriate for instance the application of a penalty shoot-out.
The winner will bag $3,000, a championship trophy, trophy and medals while the runners-up and third place will win $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
