KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysia International Bus, Truck and Components Expo (MIBTC 2015), South East Asia’s largest exhibition dedicated to commercial vehicles will return for its second instalment, with stronger participation from exhibitors and new, added fringe programmes.
The announcement was made at a media briefing officiated by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar, Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD). MIBTC 2015 will be held at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) from May 14 to 16, 2015.
“With our nation’s economic growth and rapid urbanisation, it is critical that we have a strong and modern logistics and transportation backbone to support this development. I am delighted that with the MIBTC 2015 with its theme of ‘Drive Safe’, we will once again have a comprehensive platform that gathers the best from the commercial vehicle industry to showcase their latest innovations as well as share new developments that can contribute towards safer roads”, said Syed Hamid.
Professor Dr Wong Shaw Voon, Director General of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) who lauded the organizer’s initiative in bringing the topic of road safety to the spotlight in the MIBTC said, “Definitely more people need to be aware that when it comes to road safety, all parties involved in the commercial vehicle industry have a role to play, including the drivers. Having a well-trained driver is equally important as having the most technically advanced vehicle.”
Noteworthy companies which have confirmed participating in MIBTC 2015 include Isuzu with six times the exhibition space compared to last year’s event, MAN and Volvo which quadrupled the size of their exhibition area, Scania with a dedicated Driver’s Lounge, Kit Loong Commercial Tyres as a sponsor of the Asian Trucker Networking Night as well as Brianza Plastica, an Italian company.
According to Stefan Pertz, Editor of the Asian Trucker magazine and organizer of the MIBTC 2015, “Response from the industry has been strong from day one. Already, 85 percent of the 8,000 sqm exhibition space has been booked. I need to point out that we have added a lot of exhibition space for next year. The fact that exhibitors are taking up a much larger space this year speaks about the importance of the MIBTC to them.”
